Out-Patient Physical Therapy

My senior project consisted of me spending time inside a PT (physical therapy) clinic. Although I had already logged 150+ hours in the clinic, I was specifically there to focus on dry needling. Dry needling was my major field of study when I was writing my thesis and presenting my TED talk, so the purpose of my internship was to see it in person more than I had previously. Seeing as I am also going to college for Pre-PT, it was also just important to be in the environment and continue to get comfortable with my hopeful career.

I ultimately chose to focus my senior project on PT and dry needling because of the experience I had during my LINK internship at the end of my junior year. However, before that I found my self extremely intrigued in helping people better themselves, specifically in regards to exercise and fitness. The recovery process that one goes through when they enter PT is a really pleasing thing to be a part of. You get to stay constantly in touch with the human body and all of the mechanisms that keep us running and fuctioning. For me, it's a dream come true.

TED Talk

Here I discuss the efficacy of dry needling and acupuncture in modern medicine. I use the culmination of my research to summarize my thesis via presentation.

Senior thesis paper

As more people look towards surgical alternatives, which therapeutic needling treatment is more effective: dry needling or acupuncture?
