During the second semester of my senior year I partook in the Senior Project. I chose to focus on ecofeminism. As the word suggests, the topic of ecofeminism focuses on ecology, or more broadly the environment, and feminism. Throughout my research, there was quite a bit of overlap with feminist theory. While I considered myself a feminist previous to this project, it was not until this exposure that I began to seriously confront and define my understanding of feminism. As my project progressed, I began to research the power of grassroots activism and its close connection to many feminist actions. It was with this in mind that I created the community based workshop alongside two other students. Our goal of this workshop was to create a space for people to address, discuss, and dissect their own personal definitions of feminism and sexuality while learning from each other and key not speakers. I saw this workshop as a grassroots action of sorts, educating people and giving them the space and knowledge to leave empowered.
